About Jackie
Jackie is a wonderfully happy little girl who is loving learning about all the good stuff that life has to offer. She is an ex-breeding dog so she needs a loving and patient family that are happy to take things at her pace. Once she learns to trust you, all she wants is pats and head scratches and a comfy place to snooze (and snore!). She has an incredibly sweet nature and the biggest, fluffiest puppy paws you have ever seen! And if you stop with the head scratches before she is ready she will use the big fluffy paws to bat at your hand until you start patting her again!
Jackie loves to follow her nose and enjoys games where she can hunt for food. As her confidence has increased she’s actually taken to inspecting people’s bags when they come to visit in case they’ve brought any treats over – this is where her padded, stealthily paws come in very handy for her.
She walks well on lead (unless she spies a duck and then the spaniel in her well and truly comes to life) and is responding really well to basic obedience training. She would be happiest living in a home where people are around for a fair portion of the day, and while she’s spent some time around kids, she still gets quite nervous around young children and would will be best suited to an adult household. She likes to follow you around and keep an eye on you, especially if you’re in the kitchen where there may be treats! Although she’s really good now about sitting in the corner and just watching you potter about, she doesn’t tend to get under foot too much.
Jackie always does better when she has a laid back canine sibling to follow and show her the ropes. She loves shadowing her canine foster sisters and will definitely need a home with at least one other dog. She gets on best with calmer, medium sized dogs, although she has been around lots of different types of dogs without issues and she’s really good at picking up on canine body language. She also gets on well with our cats (although we don’t think she’s quite figured out what they are!).
We know Jackie will be an amazing addition to the right family and we can’t wait for her to have her very own furever home that will treasure her for the little Muppet she really is.
If you think Jackie would look great on your couch and in your heart please visit our website www.beaglerescuevic.org and fill in our online application form, thank you.
Medical notes
. Application via www.beaglerescuevic.org
. Best suited to a work from home/stay at home/retired family
. Must sleep indoors
. Must have at least one other dog
. Not suited to living with children
. Regular grooming required.
. Not available for interstate adoption.
Jackie requires 6-weekly groom (wash and trim) – her undercoat is very thick and if you wash her at home you have to spend a lot of time with her and the hairdryer. She will need ongoing grooming and it will be really important to find a groomer that is willing to take the time to get her comfortable.
Every 2 months she goes to the vet for her arthritis injections (synovan), Jackie has recently had patella surgery.
