About Jax
Look at that gorgeous grin! Handsome big boy Jax is a dog with the muscles of a body builder and a heart made of marshmallow, a big lovable sook of a fella who can't wait to join a family.
Jax' last family abandoned him when they moved house, leaving him behind with people who were supposed to care for him but instead left him outside in a paddock for 6 months and barely cared for him. His owners found out about his living conditions and decided that it would be best to euthanase him! When they were given the option to surrender him but asked to transport him to a boarding kennel temporarily, they said putting him to sleep was easier. We hate to focus too much energy on the bad experiences a dog has had in the past, but the callousness of Jax's family is hard to understand.
Ultimately though, he made his way safely into foster care and is having a wow of a time! When he arrived he was noticeably underweight, with all his ribs showing. He had multiple bleeding abcesses and open wounds on his feet and legs and after a long course of antibiotics, multiple grass seeds were surgically removed from these painful areas. To say this guy has had a rough time is an understatement, but he has come through every bit of it with a smile on his face, a spring in his step and love in his heart. He's a bit of a goof ball who loves to play. He is living with a young female dog in his foster home and they get on just great. He would be happy as an only dog or with a social, friendly female (pending a meet and appropriate introduction). Jax is looking for a family who will treat him MUCH better than he has been treated in the past. He is a sweetheart who just wants love and attention. Jax would love to be included in lots of family activities and will require walks daily to keep him fit, healthy and mentally stimulated. He is making great progress on the lead (having never been walked on one before) but is a strong boy so won't be suitable to be walked by children alone at this stage. He knows some basic commands and is learning more all the time, he is quick and eager to please.
Fortunately his previous experience has not had any long-term detrimental impacts on his health and Jax is healthy and hale and ready to make his new start in life. Get in touch today!
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
