About Shadow *On Trial in His New Home*
*SHADOW IS CURRENTLY TRIALING HIS NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* “Shadow by name, shadow by nature!”. He will hypnotise you with his baby-blues and before you know it Shadow will have you wrapped around his paw…..but don’t make hasty adoption decisions based on his pretty yet mischievous face as Siberian Huskies are not a dog for everyone; you’ll need to know the breed to apply.
Surprisingly, given their high prey-drive, Shadow’s best friend is a cat though they did grow up together which helps. On the other hand he’s not a fan of birds which he chases from his yard, so a home without any, especially the caged variety, is a must. He would enjoy a home with another dog for company if you were to work long hours on weekdays, preferably one of a similar size and age and not too full-on.
Shadow is incredibly friendly and affectionate. He adores belly rubs, cuddles, pats and most of all, gazing adoringly into your eyes while sitting beside you or following you about the yard. He loves children and will happily share ‘his’ trampoline with them though he’s better suited to primary school aged kids as he does jump up when excited and could easily bowl the littlies over.
Handsome Shadow loves his toys, especially the squeaky ones, and he enjoys a game of tug-o-war. He can also yodel with the best of them and does so when he’s excited or wants your attention, apart from that he’s not much of a barker…….but like most arctic breeds he’s stubborn when it comes to obedience though he does know ‘sit’, and ‘go to sleep’ is his lie down command; he’ll shake hands occasionally if the mood takes him. He really likes going for walks and does so on a harness, starting out strong though eventually settling down – being 18.5kgs he’s quite a compact Husky.

Siberian Huskies are an active, highly intelligent working breed, so keeping them stimulated is a must – Shadow loves to run so he’ll require a good-sized yard so he can keep up this fave pastime. He’s not a chewer though will dig himself the occasional ‘husky hole’ to lie in and keep cool and he will need a doggie pool as he does like to splash about during the summer months. Shadow can be a fussy eater – he likes his dryfood super small and has been known to steal the cat’s kibble rather than eat his own.
Loveable Shadow is used to being an outside only dog though we’re sure he’d quickly adjust to being allowed inside on occasions as hanging with his ‘pack’ is what he thrives on – despite their shedding Siberians are an exceptionally clean dog who do not have that ‘doggie odour’. Daily exercise, secure fencing, bones to chew on and lots of love will make Shadow very happy indeed!

Adoption details
Please Note: SARG and our animals for adoption are located in Mildura in North-West Victoria.
Our adoption process commences with completing an Application form which you'll find at: www.sarg.net.au
The Application is then reviewed, references checked and a yard check done, then, if there are no issues, a meet and greet is organised. If all goes well the last stage is a 28 day home-trial to make sure that everyone is happy.
If the trial is successful our “stray” is then officially considered adopted and the microchip transferred into the new owners name.
If anything goes wrong SARG will always take back one of our animals :)
