Earl

Earl has been a gorgeous member of his foster family and we're shattered to see him go. He has a beautiful nature, and loves humans and dogs alike. This 4 month old pup is a German pointer x, most likely with staffy or lab. He hasn't been tested around cats, but has not demonstrated any aggression or interest in birds or ducks he sees in the park, so he'd likely be fine!

Earl loves attention and being near his humans as much as possible. He is very good about being left alone for short periods and at night time, meaning he doesn't howl or cry, but can barely contain himself when you return home. We've worked on some of his jumping habits, which he's greatly improved during his short stay with us. Earl will definitely benefit from further training. He is quite clever and learns quickly when treats or pats are involved, impressing us with his sitting skills, walking without pulling (though he criss-crosses a bit) and is learning to come when called. He's been to the dog park quite a bit and loves to play with the other dogs, but only after he has greeted any nearby humans. When it's just you and him at the park though, he doesn't like to go more than a metre or 2 from you! Same with when you are home, he will follow you room to room just to be near you. Like we said, he loves people!

Like any young pup, Earl does like to chew. He mainly focuses on his toys (durable ones are must!) and bones, but has tested his boundaries with shoes. This is especially noticeable if he hasn't been out for a run or play yet, all that energy comes out in another way. Thankfully, there have not been any incidents with furniture or tearing up his bed blankets.

From the very first night, Earl has been house trained! Before we installed his doggie door, he would go to the garage to use the bathroom at night time, and outside to the courtyard if it was open. Since his doggie door was installed, he goes outside 100% of the time. That's a pretty great start for this young boy.

Earl is best suited for someone who will make him part of the family, ensure he gets exercise every day and whilst he'd love a dog friend, he'd also be fine with just human companionship.
