Stevie is obviously one of the cutest dogs around (in our opinion) BUT he still requires alot of work and ongoing care for the rest of his life. Stevie is a wonderful little man who loves his people and loves to protect them. He is a funny chap who loves cuddles, attention and belly rubs. He will follow you around from room to room throughout the day just to lie down near you. He sleeps in the lounge room separate at night and is fine with that, although sometimes sneaks into the bedrooms given the chance. He has learnt a lot in his year whilst getting all his medical issues sorted and would benefit from a house that will continue training and socialising him. He's had a rough start to life for such a young chap, and his new family would need to be patient and committed to letting him get to know them. He is an absolute treasure of a little man that will be loyal and loving in the right house but it is not all smooth sailing with his socialisation with both new people and dogs which will require a lot of work in the future.
Stevie will need a family that are willing to take on the daily care of his eyes for the rest of his life. Stevie would be happiest in a home where his people are home more often than not, and where there are not too many big social activities at the house with lots of people and children. He loves nothing more than to be near his people all day whether it be out in the yard or in the house... he is a little shadow! He is okay by himself at home indoors, but does not like it when you come home from work and then go out again. He would be okay with older (teenage plus) children only. He loves going for walks every afternoon when it's a bit cooler, but is not yet socialised enough to go in off leash areas. He loves chasing lizards in the backyard in the morning and no garden will stand in his way! He does not like water and will not leave the house if it is raining or wet outside. He is growing in confidence out in public and is great in the car. Stevie is basically happier with you.. whatever you are doing. He is calm for his age, and will lie about most of the day. He doesn't chew (except his toys) and has learnt basic commands but will benefit from further training.
Stevie is not an excessive barker, but rather a very protective alert little guard man that will let you know when someone is near the house. He will bark at new people at the door until he is removed, then it takes him a while to settle down. He also likes to protect his people from things in the air (which he barks at) especially birds, planes and helicopters. Storms are also a trigger, but he is easliy distracted with a chewy snack or some cuddles when the thunder rumbles.
Stevie was not socialised well when he was a pup so is not the best at meeting new dogs. He is improving slowly and can be okay with some, but it is important to keep a close eye as he can lunge and bark at other dogs when he seemed to be relaxed initially. He would definately benefit from some more controlled socialisation training in the future to gain his confidence.
