About Aster *pet of the month $150*
Hi everyone!
My name is Aster, and if you're looking for your new best friend that is me. I adore my humans and am eager to please. I came into care after being rescued from the kill list in a council pound. I was extremely scared of everyone and every thing because I didn't know what was happening to me. I quickly learned to trust my foster carer and now I love to meet new people and dogs! I am having a fantastic time in foster care and am a really nice girl.
I get along great with other dogs and love to go to dog parks and on walks. I have great recall. I am a quiet girl who likes it if my carers can either be home a lot or take me out with them. It takes me a few weeks to learn my new owner's routine and stay calm when they leave; I sometimes wonder if I'm being abandoned when they leave me. If my owner will leave home a lot, I will feel most secure if there is another dog at home with me- but if my new owner isn't going to be out a lot then I will be fine on my own.
I am a medium size, and look mostly like a staffy however my interesting patterns on my fur indicate a little bit of catahoula mixed in there. Unfortunately when my owner left me to die in the pound they did so without providing any information on breed or age etc. So my age as of Jan 17 has been estimated by the vet as 1yr and my rescuers have chosen a date to work off, as they know most adopters will want to celebrate a birthday with me.
My adoption comes with a two week trial period and some Adaptil to help me stay calm. Adaptil is a synthetic copy of the natural appeasing pheromone that puppies are exposed to from their mother, which provides reassurance and helps me feel secure.
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following: real estate approval, fence repair if needed, outside shelter areas and look into the dog's breed dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the dogs. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the dog at your home, or in a public place. If you have other animals they must be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the dog get along- you have the option of either taking the dog on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the dog on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days' worth of food for the dog, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold dogs for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the dog, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters, especially when it comes to puppies under 5 months of age. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the dog. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you pay a $100 holding fee so we can hold the dog for a week- the day you collect the dog you will sign and adoption contract, and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
On commencement of the trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract, the vaccination cards, desexing certificate, microchip number and council registration, and will transfer the microchip into your name.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
