Jovi @ Squawks West Gosford

This is Jovi. Jovi is a desexed male. He is a 6 year old pug x beagle. Jovi is a pug x beagle but he doesnt have any breathing problems or sight problems . Health wise he has always been a pretty healthy dog. He is microchipped and vaccinated.

Jovi is capable of being an inside and outside dog. When inside he mostly wanders around has a sniff and eventually settles to lay down somewhere comfortable. If inside when your cooking he tends to hover. When outside he lays in the sun and plays off and on in the yard. Because he is a beagle x he is by nature very curious and can get very lonely. He barks at what he can not see but is friendly to visitors once he can see them. He doesnt like storms or rain and will usually seek out a nice dry place to wait it out. More often then not he does prefer to be inside during these times though. He is toilet trained so only goes outside and only on grass.

He behaves when being bathed but doesnt love it. He is a big sook and if he thinks he can will try to get out of having a bath as early as possible. Be prepared he shakes off the water straight away. He does malt a little but not in masses. His fur doesnt get knotted but can use a brush to minimise malting hair coming off all over the place.

Because he is a pug x he cant endure long periods of exercise. He does get tired easily and needs to rest. Short walks are perfect for him. They are long enough to give him some exploration of surroundings outside the yard but short enough that he doesnt get too tired to quick. He doesnt walk well on the lead. sometimes a retractable lead is handy to give him a bit more exploration space other times he can get you tabgled up and a shorter lead does the job.

He loves a good belly rub or scratch. Hes kid friendly having grown up around baby/toddlers wanting to pat him and play with him but again tires easy. He likes to fetch but is very cheeky and doesnt like to return the toy to you. He likes the chase. He also plays well with other dogs and has had interaction with my brothers staffys since he was young. If anything he probably misses this interaction since my brother moved.

If Jovi doesnt get enough attention or get out for walks often enough he does tend to get bored and lonely and can be known to dig out of the yard to explore. Some attention, belly scratches and the occassional walk usually satisfies him and curves the digging. He is able to be left home by himself during the day however has only ever been left outside while owners are not home and needs interaction at least once a day even if its just being let inside to wander around people.

His diet has consisted of dog food and leftovers if suitable i.e meats etc. He does eat dog biscuits but as a last resort. He doesnt love them and will push them aside to get to any meat or dog food hes given but if he is hungry will go back to them later. Doesnt neccessarily eat in one go if not hungry he will leave n come back to food. He is usually fed once a day but can be fed smaller portions of food 2 times a day.

On first meeting Jovi he may seem very boystrous but that excitement soon wears off and he becomes more placid. He is a sweet, calm, timid and well natured dog. When he has dug out and been picked up by a neighbour they have always commented on how good he is. He travels well in the car with stops of course to stretch his legs and go to the toilet. He doesnt need to be harnessed or kept on the lead to behave while in the car. He does need to be told where he needs to sit and to stay there.
He does respond to sit and stay but doesnt always come when called. Like I said hes a bit cheeky and playful in short spurts to get your attention.
We want a home for Jovi where he can get plenty of attention and be inside with his owner when they are home
