About Ella on trial with her family
Ella is on trial with her family. Ella is a lovely young female German Shepherd who has come into care through no fault of her own. She is very loving and a big cuddler- her avourite activity is spooning on the bed. She loves being the little spoon!
As a young Shepherd she will need a good daily romp but she is the kind of dog who will happily go for a long hike one day and chill on the couch the next. She is not destructive nor a digger or a barker but she does like to bury her treats and will alert you to strangers passing by your property.
Ella is happiest with her humans but she also enjoys the company of other furry creatures. She is currently being fostered with two cats and constantly sniffs them and licks them and invites them to play and whines when they want nothing to do with her. She is friendly with dogs of all sizes but can be a little bossy being a female so would suit a friendly placid male companion.
She is also very calm and gentle with children, but due to her size we recommend children over six as she can accidentally knock children over if she gets too excited.
Ella knows her basic commands and is voice responsive even without treats, she just wants to please her humans. Ella is learning to respond on the lead, she walks quite well on a long lead but pulls a little on a short lead as she likes to scout ahead.
Ella is a very fussy eater and is currently needing to put on some weight so we are looking for a family that is comfortable feeding her a raw diet- something like BARF would be ideal so she can maintain a good weight.
Ella is currently being fostered in Hornsby, so please contact Linda if you would like to meet this gentle natured young dog who is social with her fellow rescue cats and social with most dogs.
Medical notes
Ella has a small hernia and is desexed, fully immunised and on heart worm prevention. Her hernia has been checked by the vet and should not cause any problems.
Ella did come into care with a wound around her neck which has now healed.
