About Wilfred (Available Soon)
Wilfred was surrendered to a vet clinic with life-threatening Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis. CRQ agreed to take him into our care as an "honorary chihuahua" and pay for his treatment to save his life.
We aren't quite sure exactly what breeds Wilfred is a mix of. He definitely has alot of Spaniel in him, but it's hard to say what else considering his age. At first we guessed he may be crossed with a Labrador however he is growing and growing and become very large. Our vet guessed he may have some Irish Wolfhound in him, so he has the potential to be a very big dog.
Wilfred is very social. Since he is just a puppy, he loves to play and is in foster care with another young dog. They are having a great time playing together. Wilfred would do best in a home with another playmate. There is also a cat in Wilfred's home, who isn't too keen on this playful puppy. Wilfred has attempted to instigate some games and when it didn't work, we knew better then to keep trying and so he has learnt not to bother the cat. He would do fine in a home with other dogs and cats.
Wilfred is not a big barker. He will alert his foster mum when he needs to go to the toilet by barking at the door, which she appreciates very much. He sometimes makes a bit of a noise when he's playing a good game, but is not showing any signs of being a problem barker at all.
Wilfred loves people. His foster mum describes him as "chilled out" and was very relaxed and accommodating when he met and played with some children. He would be a wonderful family dog.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Wilfred is recovering from a very serious case of Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis and will be available for adoption when he is recovered. Expressions of interest are welcome.
