About Sheba ED0054
Sheba is a very loving and affectionate girl. She adores people and just wants to be with you all the time either in the house, garden, in the car or on a walk – wherever you are you will have a shadow. Sheba has lived with children but we would recommend older children as she does jump up to say hello and get attention.
Sheba is also a sensitive girl who is eager to please and, due to her difficult past, is very sensitive to a strong reprimand – a change in tone is all she needs. Sheba is being fostered with two resident Greyhounds whom she adores and now feels very much a part of the pack. Sheba is accepting of calm, friendly dogs but is reactive to reactive or hyperactive dogs that may bark or growl at her. Sheba will need to be kept safe by high fencing as she is a good jumper. We would not home Sheba with other smaller species.
Sheba is well behaved on the leash but can pull to sniff other dogs. Her energy levels are medium and she really does need to be walked every day and enjoys being off leash in a safe area. Her recall is very good and she will generally stay close to you once bonded. Sheba now loves her trips to the beach and paddling in the water – she was initially very scared of the sea. Sheba is very frightened of the garden hose and hasn’t yet allowed a cool-down shower with the Greyhounds but she is getting closer so hopefully one day. Sheba has an active brain which does need to be stimulated – she has had a taste of Dog Agility Training which she loved and we would really encourage her new owner to continue with this or similar interests. We would require Sheba to continue with socialisation and training by attending classes - she does ‘come’ and ‘sit’.
In the past Sheba has not been given time or boundaries and therefore lacks confidence so anything in which she excels really helps her to grow. Sheba also loves chasing her ball and is becoming very good at catching. When she is really happy or wants to play she will spin on the spot – her little party trick!
Sheba has adjusted well to being an inside dog and is housetrained. She can tend to get bored if left alone for long periods and she may then display destructive behaviour such as digging and chewing. Sheba is given a Kong with treats when left in the garden which she really enjoys – or a good bone will keep her busy for quite a while. Sheba does guard bones and food from other dogs but is pretty relaxed with toys. Sheba is not a barker – only if there is an unusual noise or someone comes to the door.
Sheba would settle well as an only dog – she would love to be someone’s close companion and be involved in everything they do. Sheba could live with another dog but that would be dependent on meet. Sheba would also be better suited to a home that has experience of dogs and understands their needs – she has so much to offer and just wants to love and be loved.
