Phoenix would ideally be adopted into a family where lots of time can be spent with 'Mum'. She really enjoys the company of female humans but can take a while to warm up to men. The yard must be securely fenced. She would enjoy a home where she is welcomed inside with the family. Given her nature, older children and adults would be preferable - she is unlikely to accept any rushed or rough contact regardless of how well meaning. She would thrive where she is the only dog, but suspect she could do equally as well if her furry companion is laid back and gentle.

Unfortunately, we think Phoenix has had a pretty rough past. She is very shy with strangers, especially men. She really needs time to love to help her trust again. Phoenix is revealing more and more of her personality every day. For the most part she is relaxed and tends to sleep a lot during the day. She is very active in the morning and enjoys a walk and sniff in the park. She does need firm direction at times and ongoing obedience training. These past few days she has done extremely well in settling into this new environment. She is an absolute pleasure to have but has a long way to go in trusting humans again.

Currently she has only met our 2 dogs through the fence. Needs lots of encouragement to approach. Timid and uncomfortable around other dogs at this time. If she meets another dog when on a walk likely to freeze and then attempt to run away.
