About Missy (On Trial 9/1/2017)
This gorgeous, lovable, soft furred young lady is Missy, 12 month old, Mastiff x German Shepherd. Missy is a gentle sweetheart and not overly big (only 22kg).
Missy has a healthy coat with shades of grey, black, tan and fawn. She is happy and healthy with an easy outgoing personality. If you are looking for your new companion who loves affection then Missy is your girl.
Some of Missy's favourite things include: riding in the car, hanging out in the yard, helping you garden, fetching a ball, going for walks, meeting new people, playing tug o war and going to the beach. She just wants to be with you and will sit contently and watch you lovingly no matter what you are doing.
Missy is easy to walk and does not pull on the lead. She isn't overly large but would be best suited to children who are a bit older. Although he is not overly excitable and is usually very gentle and never jumps up, he may not realise his size and may knock a small child over.
The mix of Great Dane and Mastiff makes Missy a dog with medium energy levels. Her ideal home would be where she can be part of the family and receive all the attention she deserves. She doesn't want much more than walk and a play each day and she is happiest just being with you or sleeping in the sun. Missy currently sleeps outdoors in a kennel or day bed but she is house trained.
Missy gets along with male and female dogs and puppies. She treats them with absolute respect, and understands play time cues or if a dog is not friendly towards her, she walks away without fuss.
She needs a home with either another young active dog or an active family who will be willing to spend some time training her. Missy is very food focused which makes her easy to train. She always sits politely and waits for permission to begin eating at meal times. She is very obedient.
Missy knows her name and comes back very quickly when you call herback when he's off lead. She has the basics mastered and doesn't need treats to show you how well she can sit, drop and wait. Missy will require ongoing training to ensure she continues developing these skills. She is a beautiful, healthy, friendly dog who will bring you lots of happiness.
For more information or to meet Missy please contact her foster carer Jess on 0409 452 046 or email ya_shorty01@hotmail.com. Missy is in foster care in Georgetown, NSW (Newcastle area) and is not available for adoption interstate.
Missy's adoption fee is $350 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
