About Scout ~ male Lab x Mastiff puppy (Trial pending)
SCOUT is a 7 week old, male, Labrador x Mastiff puppy available for adoption in early January. He is a mixed basket of a boy as he isn't as rambunctious as his sisters, yet likes to be involved in the action. He enjoys a run around and will then come and sit at your feet and watch the others continue, joining in again sporadically. He is learning to sit, yet took a little longer than his big sisters. He will need continual training and patience like all pups, to ensure that he continues to learn his manners as a potential big boy.
SCOUT loves his cuddles and would sit on his humans all day if possible. He enjoys sniffing around and will have a run, yet is not a rough and tumble pup. He currently lives with a foster family with a range of other dogs, big and small, and is very social. It would be a positive if you have a friendly, active, yet not rough adult dog as a teacher, companion and playmate for SCOUT, however If you don't have another dog to keep him company, then there needs to be someone in the household that doesn't work full time and family members available to assist in the transition period when brought home.
SCOUT is well socialised with adults and children and is very social with all ages, yet being a pup does mouth with his sharp teeth and scratch at times. He needs to be welcome inside when people are home, and to sleep inside at least until fully grown. As a potential adoptive owner you need good fencing with no small gaps. she can't go to rural fencing (eg: mesh or wire).
SCOUT's siblings – Jenna, Josie, Jerry, Molly, Moo and Max are also available for adoption.
As SCOUT is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he will need to be returned to our vet for desexing when he is approximately 5 months old.
For more information or to express your interest in adopting SCOUT in January please email Shannon at shanchan2000@yahoo.com.au with some details of the lifestyle you can offer SCOUT, your family, other pets, etc. Please allow up to 24 hours for a response. SCOUT is in care in Lake Macquarie, NSW.
SCOUT’s adoption fee is $500, this includes desexing, vaccinations, microchipping, flea and worm treatment. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
