About Max ~ male Lab x Mastiff puppy (on trial 20/01/17)
MAX is a 7 week old, male, Labrador x Mastiff puppy available for adoption in early January. He is the smallest of his siblings yet is still a big breed mix. He is a sweet, quiet, apprehensive little man who is happy to sit back and take it all in. He is learning to sit, yet took a little longer than his big sisters. He will need continual training and patience to ensure that he continues to learn his manners as a potential big boy.
MAX loves his cuddles and would sit on his humans all day if possible. He enjoys sniffing around and will have a run, yet is not a rough and tumble pup.
MAX currently lives with a foster family with a range of other dogs, big and small, and is very social. It would be a positive if you have a friendly, quiet, mellow adult dog as a teacher, companion and playmate for MAX, however If you don't have another dog to keep him company, then there needs to be someone in the household that doesn't work full time and family members available to assist in the transition period when brought home.
MAX is well socialised with adults and children and is very social with all ages, yet being a pup does mouth with his sharp teeth and scratch at times. He needs to be welcome inside when people are home, and to sleep inside at least until fully grown. As a potential adoptive owner you need good fencing with no small gaps. He can't go to rural fencing (eg: mesh or wire).
MAX's siblings – Jenna, Josie, Jerry, Justice, Molly, Moo and Scout are also available for adoption.
As MAX is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he will need to be returned to our vet for desexing when he is approximately 5 months old.
For more information or to express your interest in adopting MAX in January please email Shannon at shanchan2000@yahoo.com.au with some details of the lifestyle you can offer MAX, your family, other pets, etc. Please allow up to 24 hours for a response. MAX is in care in Lake Macquarie, NSW.
MAX’s adoption fee is $500, this includes desexing, vaccinations, microchipping, flea and worm treatment. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
