About Sam ~ male Lab x puppy (on trial 12/1/17)
Sam is a beautiful, black, 10 week old Labrador x puppy with a distinctive white strip on his nose.
Playful, smart, and cuddly, he is making fast progress with basic obedience and toilet training. He has mastered "sit", and knows his name.
Sam sleeps inside, but spends his awake hours playing in the yard. He is playful, smart, and loves attention. He has a lot of fun playing fetch and running around with his brother Ollie, and his foster sister and carers. He is happy to be around other dogs and has met a range of people with no problems, but has not be tested with pocket pets or chickens. He would benefit from having another dog as a companion or an owner who can spend a lot of time with him as he can become talkative if he gets bored.
Sam will grow up to be a large dog. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training.
It would be a big plus if you have a friendly adult dog as a teacher, companion and playmate for Sam. If you don't have another dog to keep him company, then there needs to be someone in the household that doesn't work full time.
Sam needs to be welcome inside when people are home, and to sleep inside at least until fully grown. He will be wonderful family dog and is suitable for children 8 years and older. You need good fencing with no small gaps. He can't go to rural fencing (eg: mesh or wire).
Sam's brother Ollie is also available for adoption.
As Sam is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when he's approximately 5 months old.
Expressions of interest please text Joss on 0431 289 285 or email josswbrown@gmail.com.
Sam is in care in Speers Point, NSW (Lake Macquarie, near Newcastle).
Sam's adoption fee is $550 and includes his desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and he's been treated for fleas and worms. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
