About Steve
Steve is a very special bunny who already has faced one major health hurdle.
Cancer.
This beautiful boy had a 2 lumps (approximately 2 & 1cm diameter) removed from his inner thigh whilst being desexed. It was sent off for testing and the results came back that they were malignant melanomas. One of the lumps contained a lymph node which had also been almost entirely effaced by the same cancerous cells. This means the cancer had metastasized (spread), which isn't good news at all.
Subsequent radiographs (X-rays) were taken of his chest to see if the cancer had spread to his lungs - finally some good news! At this stage there are no cancerous cells to be seen. However because chemotherapy is not a viable option (previous attempts on other rabbits have not been successful given their small fragile bodies), there is unfortunately a fairly high chance that it will return or has already spread but is not showing on scans.
This all happened when he was just a few months old.
However, unless we had told you all of this, you would have no idea that he had already had a run in with cancer.
Steve is a happy, energetic and all-round beautiful boy who is now approximately 2.5 years old. He is always up for cuddles with humans, and loves having bunny friends too.
Since his initial lump removal, there have been no signs of health problems.
Steve was adopted for 2 years and lived with another male on and off. His ideal companion is a female and in foster care he is enjoying the company of his female friend so would be best going to a new home with his current friend or to a home with an existing female.
We also must add that Steve is a cashmere rabbit so will need regular grooming and shaving in the warmer months. If he is adopted to a home near his current foster carer in South-West Sydney then she is happy to continue shaving him when needed for no cost if you're able to travel to her.
Steve will offer you unconditional love and we know the person who adopts him won't regret it. He is such a special boy and we hope that his forever home is found very soon. If you think you might be able to offer him the perfect home, please send us a message!
