Are you looking for a cuddle bug? Meet Riku!

Riku is an easy going and happy puppy with stunning good looks. His attractive merle coat gets people’s attention wherever he goes. Riku’s favourite thing to do is snuggle up with his foster carer and he may very well turn into one of those overgrown lap dogs if you let him! He really enjoys getting and giving affection, especially if it involves pats and scratches. The other side of Riku is playful and active. He enjoys playing with toys and will require daily exercise throughout his life to keep him happy and healthy. Riku has been in care with two other large dogs. They all get along great and he plays nicely with his doggy friends.

During his time in care, Riku has begun basic training. He has been learning to sit and come on command, as well as having learnt his basic manners. Riku has adapted really well to being an indoor dog and is progressing well with his toilet training. It is very important that his new family are committed to continuing his training so that he becomes the best dog that he can be. Riku is food motivated and a very smart boy who responds well to correction and even copies the big dogs. He currently doesn’t like to sleep by himself and prefers company at night so if your looking for a bed buddy then he would fit right in. Puppy preschool would be a great start for Riku and is something that we would strongly suggest.

We are looking for a home with large breed experience & where Riku will be a part of the family and included in the daily activities and outings. He will require another doggy companion and/or someone who is home more often than not so that he gets the attention that he deserves. Riku should be allowed inside the home to be with the family and will need a warm comfy bed inside to sleep on at night so that he is out of the weather. At this stage he has had little exposure to pets which are not of the canine variety but with the appropriate training there should be no issue with him being able to share his home with other pets.
