About AJ - Papillon X Chihuahua ~ On Trial 25/2/17
I'm AJ and as you can see from my photos I'm incredibly pretty even though I'm a boy (boys can be pretty too!) . I'm in touch with my feminine side so I'm not fazed about being this beautiful - I take it all in my stride.
I'm a spritely 7 and a half year old male Papillon X Chihuahua who loves to play with stuffed toys (yes dolls too) and who loves his mummy . I've had a bad past so I'm scared of many men (and visitors) so I'm understandably a ladies man. I'm a lot better meeting new people when we are out now - I like to put my paws on their legs to tell them when I'm ready for a pat or treat. I do sometimes forget that I don't need to be scared of new people anymore and will bark or shy away - but the way to a man's heart is with food so keep those yummy treats coming !
I need a very special family as my furever home - a family that will be gentle and earn my trust and continue my training meeting new people long term. A single or couple who are as sweet as me would be my perfect family. A family with quiet, older teenagers might be OK as long as they respect me and don't have lots of noisy friends coming over. I'm like a dainty flower who likes quiet space and a peaceful life to bloom.
I'm in foster care with 5 cats and 2 other dogs. The cats used to scare me but now we live happily together (even though the little white one still bosses me around). I like my big brother Ludo , he's taught me that other dogs can be nice (he's in touch with his feminine side too) and my little sister Mia has started to teach me tug of war with toys. She's a little crazy but I love her as she's a little socially challenged like me!
I enjoy barking at other dogs when we are out walking as even pretty boys like me aren't perfect. I particularly like to bark at big dogs but I like my mates Chester (an Airedale Terrier) and Rosie (a foxie). When I walk with them or Ludo I prance down the street with a smile on my face! You see I hadn't been well socialised with dogs, cats or people prior to coming into foster care, so I'm very proud of how far I've come! My new family will need to understand that I'm a diamond in the rough and with time and patience I will keep improving with my social interactions.
I'm also very special as I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism which is an under performing thyroid. I'm on thyroxine medication twice daily to control it for the rest of my life. My new family needs to be vigilant with my medication to keep me happy and healthy - I'm worth the effort right ? (That's a rhetorical question!)
If you think you are a very special family who can give me the best home ever then please contact my foster mummy Jo on Jo.payne.aus@hotmail.com . I'm in foster care near Gosford (Central Coast).
My adoption fee is $300 and includes my desexing, vaccination and registration and of course me !
Please be aware that my foster mummy loves me dearly and is very fussy, so please forgive all her questions to make sure she finds me the right furever home!
Lots of love AJ the Irresistible Misfit x

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
