About Laney ~ Greyhound, girl (on trial 17/02/7)
Meet the gorgeous and beautiful greyhound girl, Laney.
Laney is hoping to not only celebrate Christmas with her new family but also her 3rd birthday. Yes, Laney was born on Christmas day.
Laney is a sweet & gentle soul, who absolutely adores cuddles and will get into some really awkward positions to receive one.
She isn't pushy at all in asking for cuddles but you do find, as if by magic, your hand reaching out to caress her sweet little face, always with a smile.
Laney loves her stuffed toys. She will gently carry a toy from the toy box to her bed, have a little play and then go back and get another one. She continues to do this until she has a good pile of toys and then she falls fast asleep. Of course she has her favourite toys and it's good fun to hide them in the toy box and watch her cleverly pull them out in order of her most favourite.
In the last week Laney has started to do the classic greyhound zoomie. So much fun to watch as she tucks in her bottom and behaves nutty for a few minutes and then just as quickly settles down leading you to believe you imagined the whole incident.
She has also started retrieving the ice out of her water bowl and having a good munch on it when the weather is hot.
Laney is really starting to appreciate car rides especially if she receives cuddles at your destination. Somehow she always manages to find a willing victim or two.
Laney enjoys her walks, she does a cute little bunny hop when she sees something that interests her.
Sometimes Laney gets a little unsure about situations that she hasn't encountered before. She will just stop still. A few calming minutes and gentle pats usually allow her to conquer her uncertainties and move on.
Laney is very human orientated but does get on with other dogs. She is currently living with 5 other dogs. She has tested really well with small dogs.
Laney is toilet trained, but she won't tell you she needs to go. Setting up a regular toilet routine is a must to avoid accidents. Greyhounds love routines so it is quite easy to do.
The most suitable forever home for Laney would be somewhere where she can be an important member of the family. She likes to be close to her family and participate in family routines, so being allowed inside is a must.
Laney would be suitable for a family with older children, who appreciate the benefits of a good cuddle. Or a similar sized canine friend if you are a full time worker, or as an only dog if her family is not away too much.
Greyhounds are extremely lazy preferring to snooze the day away on the lounge. A 15-20 minute walk a day will make Laney extremely happy and contented.
Greyhounds are a little different from your average dog, so reading up about greyhounds is advised and appreciated.
For more information or to meet Laney, please contact her foster carer Misty on 0434 373 422or email Mistyem@tpg.com.au. Laney is in foster care in Wallsend, NSW (Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
