About Jasper (Available Soon)
Jasper is a playful and cheeky little fellow with lots of character. He loves a good game and he is active and enjoys being outdoors. Of course like any chihuahua, nothing beats a cuddle with his favourite people at the end of the day and he is very affectionate to those he knows and loves.
Jasper is incredibly social towards other dogs and just wants to play! He lives with two other chihuahuas in his foster home, and they have great fun together. Jasper also lives with a kitten and guinea pigs and he is no threat to either. He is a dog that just loves other animals.
Jasper is not suitable for a home with children, as he can be nippy when he is feeling stressed or frightened. He can be timid with new people and in new environments. Although Jasper has some behavioural challenges, our dog trainers are working alongside his foster carer to address. Jasper is very afraid of men, but is being socialised with gentle, kind men who are helping him overcome his fears and build trust.
Little Jasper has come into care with several medical issues needing to be addressed, including alopecia. He has extensive hair loss and it is essential that our veterinary team get to the bottom of what is causing this before he is adopted. This means Jasper is unlikely to be able to go to his new home until March 2017, giving our team time to treat his alopecia and biopsy his skin.
We are taking expressions of interest in the mean time.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Jasper has extensive hair loss that is being assessed whilst in foster care. Being a blue chihuahua, we believe it could be a congenital defect seen in blue breeding lines. He has had extensive blood tests and we are doing all we can to get to the bottom of what is causing his alopecia.
