About Loulita (Foster to Adopt)
Loulita is cute and cuddly. She's affectionate, sweet and just loves being around the people that she knows and loves. With Loulita around, you'd never be lonely and this beautiful little dog is as devoted as they come. She would be the perfect companion to someone retired or who works from home.
FOSTER CARER NEEDED! As Loulita needs long term care, she is available to go to a foster home that will eventually adopt her. Please read below:
We are looking for a very special person to make room in their home for a very special little dog.
Loulita is a beautiful Poodle x Maltese who suffers from seperation anxiety and is finding the world a bit of a scary place. After being assessed by three dog trainers and our Veterinary Behaviour Specialist, it's quite clear that what Loulita needs most is stability and to really form a bond with her new people.
A dog like Loulita craves stability and we fear that if she bonds with her foster family and then has that bond broken when she is adopted, this will damage her again.
So we are looking for a very special home for Loulita. Ideally, we'd like to find a foster home that would like to adopt her. This means that we are looking for someone who'd like to be Loulita's forever home, but instead of us simply adopting her out, we will place her in that home as a foster first.
What does this mean and why do we want to do this?
We believe this will be the best way to transition Loulita to her new home. We will cover all her veterinary and training expenses whilst she's a foster dog - our executive committee will walk beside you the entire way; and our executive committee consists of two qualified dog trainers, two vet students and three vet nurses!
We will be sending Dr Karen - Veterinary Behaviourist - to you for a home visit paid by CRQ to help Loulita settle into your home and to set up a good routine. We'll even provide a crate for Loulita - this safe and secure den-style bed is important for Loulita to feel safe and secure.
Loulita already has a behaviour plan in place to help her overcome her fears and excessive barking and we will provide ongoing support and care to Loulitas foster carers every step of the way.
The ideal foster/forever home would be:
A home with a female owner. Loulita is afraid of men however we want her to overcome this fear. So any men in the home would need to be gentle and patient with Loulita and willing to gain her trust.
A home without small children. Loulitas not aggressive but she finds noisy little kids a bit much.
A home with no other dogs, or a very relaxed and social dog who won't threaten Loulita. She needs someone who can focus on her needs.
A home where Loulita has plenty of company.
A home where Loulita will be loved and cherished.
If you'd be interested in fostering (with the view to adopt) this precious girl, please complete a foster application and mention Loulita.

Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heartworm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.

Chihuahua Rescue QLD Inc. is not a first to apply rescue group. We re-home our dogs based on the best possible family we can find them.
The first step to adopting a dog from us is to fill out an expression of interest form.
We encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about your family and your home as this helps us make sure we match you with the most suitable dog.
This form can be found at the following address: http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/Kczrs885x4lq3N9u4mQhca
Due to the large volume of inquiries we are unable to respond to all applications. If you are considered suitable for the dog you have applied for you will be contacted witihin one week of applying.
Please note: we do not organise any meet and greet without a completed expression of interest form.
Our adoption process involves:
1) Completing online application form - only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
2) Arranging a meet and greet with the dogs foster carer, after which we ask you to take 24 hours to make a decision about whether you want to adopt this dog
3) A brief home visit and yard check from one of our volunteers
4) Adoption trial spanning four weeks.
We ask that you pay the dogs adoption fee at the beginning of the adoption trial, however this will be refunded if for any reason the dog is not working out in your home within the four week period. We offer a four week adoption trial to make sure that you have plenty of time for your new dog to settle into your home and so we can offer you full support during this period and beyond.
