About Spike
*** Check out the new video under Spike's pictures, it captures his temperament beautifully!! ***
Spike came to us after being abandoned. He was tied up with no food, no water and was very skinny. He was so desperate for attention he would constantly jump and wouldn't leave the side of his carers.
Spike has now been with us for 3 months. He has learnt not to jump up on people, learnt to sit for treats and attention, and does not jump fences. But most importantly, he has learned the joy of playing. I feel Spike was never played with, and at first the concept was very confusing to him. He showed no desire to interact with resident dogs when playing, but he soon learned how great toys are, and this transitioned to a play with dogs and eventually - a play with humans. Spike now loves to bounce around and play chasey with his adoptive family.
Spike weighs in at 35kgs and has the softest nature I have ever met. He just wants to love and be loved. He would be a wonderful companion for a lonely family, couple or single person. He would suit a home on his own, or with other animals.
He is good with cats and dogs. He is currently in care with two young girls, and two older dominant dogs and lives quite happily in the family.
Medical notes
Spike is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated and ready to go now!
Adoption details
Firstly you will need to complete an application with your name and address and contact details for the microchip records. Our online application form is available on our website http://www.radarescue.org/online-application-form
Or an application form can be requested by using the Email Carer feature on the pet's listing.
Please note that while we consider all applications in the order in which we receive them, our animals are not adopted out on a first come, first served basis. Our objective is to ensure that our animals are adopted into the most suitable ‘forever’ home available to meet the animal's (and the person’s) characteristics and needs.
The final decision about which new home the animal goes to is made by the foster carer based on their knowledge and understanding of the potential home and the personality of the individual animal. Sometimes it may take several enquiries before you find the right RADAR furry friend for you!
We will need a non-refundable holding deposit of $50 minimum to hold a pet for you whilst awaiting everything to be finalised, however this amount is deducted from the adoption fee.
RADAR expects full payment on exchange of the pet or prior to it leaving on transport.
RADAR expects you to be responsible for transport costs. We can help source appropriate transport options or help find accommodation if you need to travel and stay overnight.
It is understood that if all goes wrong that you can return the pet safely and unharmed to RADAR for a full refund within one week of the adoption.
