About Indy ~ Maltese x female, 2.5yo (On Trial 29/12/16)
Indy is a Maltese mix (possibly crossed with Poodle, Shih Tzu or Skye Terrier) and is a female approximately 2 ½ years old. She’s a gorgeous girl who loves nothing more than pats and walks.
Indy is the perfect dog if you have kids. I have an 8 year old son who just adores her. She loves being inside the home and being part of the family.
Indy is an inside dog and is house trained and since joining us has also learnt to use the doggy door and large stairs off our deck. She loves to chew on toys such as balls, squeaky toys, and rawhide.
She would no doubt love to be in a home where someone is home quite a lot. However, we have found that she has quickly adapted to our busy routine of coming and going from the house. When we are out of the house she uses the doggy door as needed and will sit in her basket in the lounge room listening to the radio and sometimes looking out the window.
If you already have a dog, Indy may take a day or two to get used to sharing her space with another dog (she did become friends with the dog next door). She doesn't like to be approached by unknown dogs on walks and she will use her voice to tell other dogs to stay away from her.
Indy has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep her comfortable and beautiful.
Indy would suit someone who is quite active and can walk her daily. She goes nuts when it’s walk time. Overall she is a gorgeous girl who has already stolen a piece of my heart!
Indy is in foster care in Kotara, NSW (Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate. For more information or to meet Indy, please contact Donna by email on trudgetty@hotmail.com.
Indy's adoption fee is $500 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
