About Patch and Bessie ~ (on trial 29/1/17)
This adorable pair are seeking a home where they can stay together. They will love you forever and give you lots of enjoyment. PATCH is a 5yo, male, Jack Russell Terrier; tan and white with a smooth coat. BESSIE is a 3yo, female, Jack Russell Terrier; black and white, with a scruffy coat and a racoon mask.
----- PATCH -----
Patch is such a sweet boy. He will steal your heart with his little legs, cute smile and loving eyes. Patch is super friendly with dogs and humans, and he enjoys short walks each day where he gets to meet both new people and new dogs. He occasionally plays with his toys and will sometimes carry them around in his mouth and into the backyard.
Patch is toilet trained and can use a doggy door. He is completely cat friendly and is currently living with 3 cats in his foster home. He has a tendency to chase birds so may not be suitable with pocket pets. He very rarely barks, only if there is an unfamiliar sound or to alert you of a visitor.
Patch loves his daily walks and is great on the lead and in the car with his harness. He doesn’t require a long walk as he gets tired quickly (with his short legs) but he loves the exercise. His foster family have started training him to follow basic commands like sit and stay and his new family would need to continue with this.
Patch is very friendly with other dogs. He will happily explore the yard or lay in the sun during the day but needs to be allowed inside at dusk and to sleep inside at night. He will sleep in his dog bed or on the lounge, if permitted.
----- BESSIE -----
Bessie is a quiet, shy girl with a big heart and a lovely temperament who just wants to be near you. She can be nervous meeting new people and dogs, but warms up to them after some time and positive reinforcement.
Bessie is a real sook and absolutely LOVES her belly being rubbed. She will come to you for a pat and immediately roll onto her back for you to rub her tummy. She enjoys the company of her humans very much.
Bessie loves being outdoors on walks or hanging out in the sun in the backyard, however she must have access to inside at all times. She is very clever and knows simple commands as well as how to use the doggy door. She is toilet trained. She would enjoy more training as she is very quick to learn and wants to please you.
Bessie is in foster care with 3 cats and leaves them alone. She loves her daily walk and walks very well on the lead and is learning to travel well in the car. She very rarely barks, only if she hears another dog bark or a sound that startles her.
Bessie usually sleeps in her doggy bed but (if allowed) will happily sleep on the lounge and loves being up high as it makes her feel safe.
------------
If you hadn't thought about adopting a pair of dogs, please consider giving a home to this sweet pair who will give you double the love and enjoyment. To meet them is to adore them.
Patch and Bessie would suit a home with an older person or couple, where there is someone who works from home or doesn't work full time. Young children under 16 are not be suitable as Patch and Bessie seem to enjoy a quiet and calm environment.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
