About Toby
Toby is a gentle, intelligent and trusting soul. We think Toby was originally from one of the remote communities of the Barkly region of Central Australia. He came into care in Tennant Creek with a broken neck of femur. He had been carrying this injury for at least a month. Yet despite all the pain of the fracture, his post op pain, and having to rehabilitate the leg, we have never seen any fear or aggression from him. He has been such a grateful little dog, and really made the most of his foster home, relating beautifully with the other dogs and with his human family.
Toby is a naturally obedient boy, walks beautifully on the lead, comes when he's called and understands basic commands. He really enjoys an off lead walk and is sociable with dogs and humans he meets, He loves the garden, and can be trusted to amuse himself outside if his humans are away, but if they are home he likes to be relaxing inside getting pats and cuddles. He has lovely manners inside and has a very peaceful presence around the place.
Toby would make a great family pet. He's a relaxed homebody with a moderate exercise requirement, and naturally well mannered. Just a pleasure to have around.
Medical notes
Toby is a fit and healthy young dog. Teeth are perfect. He has recovered well from his hip arthroplasty, and is already weightbearing through his affected leg. The vet says he will not have long term problems and is delighted with the progress he has a made in such a short time. He needs regular walks/runs to keep the hip mobile, but no more than a normal dog would need.
