About Sally
Hello humans my name is Sally!
If you had met me a month ago you wouldn't believe I was the same dog as I am today.
I came into AWLQ's care as a stray; a very scared and confused stray actually. I could see that all of the staff and volunteers were trying their hardest to comfort me and make sure I was okay but I just wasn't coping well with being in an unfamiliar environment.
The lovely humans were very understanding and accepted the fact that they really didn't know much about me what I have been through or why I was so petrified of everything. The decision was made to transfer me to a quieter environment to give me an opportunity to relax.
When I initially arrived at the Beenleigh Rehoming Centre I wasn't yet aware that the people I was meeting were so loving and caring. I really didn't know what to expect? Before I got there I had worked myself up so much that by the time I hopped out of the vehicle and was met by people I had never seen before I broke down. I cried and screamed and I just really didn't know what to do all I wanted was to feel safe.
The staff comforted me as quickly as possible and let me hide away in the office where it was super quiet and away from any scary noises. By this stage I had calmed down but I still couldn't hide my fear of humans.
I was put on a behaviour plan which allowed me to learn how to trust people in my own time. I wasn't forced to do anything I didn't want to do and was even given rewards whenever I approached other people and dogs.
After time patience and the help of the dedicated team at the Beenleigh Rehoming Centre I was allowed the opportunity to gain confidence and discover that humans can actually be loving and make me feel safe.
Now that I have gained skills that I never would have before I have also learnt how to be an absolute sweetheart! I am so happy and thankful for all of the kind humans at AWLQ because now not a day goes by where I don't have a smile on my face!
Please come down to the Beenleigh Rehoming Centre so I can show you how gentle and loving I have learnt to be!
