About Leo ~ Bull Arab x Mastiff ~ On Trial 27/3/17
Introducing Leo, a 3 and a half year old Bull Arab x Mastiff gentle giant. If you love big goofy dogs then you'll love Master Leo! He would weigh more than 40kg plus and is very solid, big friendly boy. He puts his head in your lap for pats and looks at you with a beaming smile.
Leo loves the water - he will splash about in a clam pool and catch the water from the hose. If you live close to a lake, dam or beach he'd love to join you to have a run around and a romp in the water. He loves to dig in the water and in the sand too, so would enjoy a sand pit where you can hide treats for him to find.
Leo is in care with about 100 other dogs in a boarding facility. His best friend is another Bull Arab called Portia - they play in the runs all day and sleep together at night. He is good with other dogs - given his size and love of games he would be best suited to another medium or large dogs that he won't accidentally step on. He would also be content as an only dog as long as he got to socialise with other dogs at parks or on walks. He loves walking so would love a walk each day.
Leo absolutely loves people - he is very friendly when meeting strangers - if you give him a few treats he will be your loyal friend forever. He can get excited when he first sees you but settles well if you turn away from him or ask him to sit for a reward instead. He would be good with teenagers or older kids who are confident with big dogs as little kids might find his size intimidating. He really is such a sweet gentle boy who is unaware of his large, ambling size.
Leo is very responsive to training - he will sit and drop for treats and does the cutest camo crawl on his belly towards you to score more treats. He would love a yard with grass as he loves to stretch out and roll around on the grass giving himself a good back scratch. Being so large he would suit good height fencing (6 foot preferred) all around to keep him safe and sound. He currently sleeps in a dog run, however he would love a home where he will be allowed inside when his family is home and where he is allowed to sleep inside on a warm and cosy bed.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
