About Jennifer the one-eye
Darling Jennifer is a sweet and loving girl who has had an exceptionally difficult life and is in dire need of a new beginning. This sleek and shiny stunner is a tiny petite little lass who adores soft and gentle pats and affection. She has a lifetime of love and gratitude to offer the kind soul who gives her another chance, there is nothing quite like the bringing an animal into your home who really needs you.
Jennifer comes from a property with a LOT of other cats, living in a very small space. They are in the yard of an elderly lady, a refugee from Bosnia who speaks little English and lives in poverty. What started out as a few stray cats hanging around has grown exponentially to a large number of famished felines, the lady truly cares about the cats and tries to look after them. As we attempt to remove as many cats as possible, we have taken to referring to them as refugees too, as they search for a better life.
Sometime in her past, Jennifer suffered an injury or trauma to her left eye. The first day we met her she wouldn't get close to us but from a distance it was clear that where her eye should have been there was nothing, or rather an infected mess. We were desperate to get her the treatment she needed. After a few visits, we were able to pick Jennifer up and get her safely into foster care. We also caught 3 of her kittens! They were very unwell and one tragically didn't make it but she has two sons who are healthy and thriving.
Jennifer has now had surgery to remove the remnants of her eye. She has had a long course of antibiotics to clear a severe respiratory infection and she has been sterilised so her poor exhausted body never has to have babies again.
It has been clear from day one that Jennifer is an utter sweetheart. She just needed a chance to blossom. Now her coat is sleek and clean and she has regained her health. All that is left is a brand new home of her own!
Jennifer would be best suited to a home with someone who wants to invest some time into getting to know their new friend. She will be frightened and she will hide, maybe even for days. She needs patience and love but once she knows and trusts you she is so affectionate and sweet. If you truly want to save a life, this is your girl. If you want to be adored forever, Jennifer is for you. No kids, no dogs and preferably no other cats - just humans with big hearts for this girl.
Also, who doesn't want a one-eyed cat??
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
