About Ronny ~ Terrier x Shih Tzu (On Trial 11/11/16)
Ronny is a 1 year old Shih Tzu x Terrier dog but one still showing much puppy behaviour. In appearance and nature he reflects more of his Terrier genes than the normally quieter Shih Tzu.
He has recently been desexed and undergone a thorough Vet examination. There are no on-going health problems.
Ronny weighs in at 13 kgs; he is a good solid dog for his size.
He inherits a ginger and white coat and has a very handsome look. His visage is keen and intelligent.
Ronny is developing good social skills and gets on well with adults and mature teens. He is presently a member of a pack of some 6 other much more mature dogs who do find it necessary at times to remind him of his correct place in the family pecking order. He normally accepts their counselling with grace and humility.
Still pretty much in the older puppy stage, he is enthusiastic and boisterous. He does not appear to have been collared nor walked (until now) and it would be necessary for him to be given regular daily exercise – “The Devil finds work for idle hands”.
He appears to have passed his first 12 months as an outside dog and is presently learning the etiquette necessary for inside living. The occasional accidents still occur but are becoming less frequent as he progresses with his training.
Ronny is not your traditional placid lap-dog. He does not know this however and loves nothing more than to while away any stolen time he can get sitting on your lap and soaking up as much TLC as you might have the patience to give. It would not be difficult to fall in love with him.
This is a vigorous and sometimes demanding animal. He needs an environment where he can get plenty of mental and physical stimulus. A family with toddlers and young children would not be considered as a suitable home for this boy.
He would however be an ideal companion for a single adult or a family with mature teens.
For more information or to meet Ronny, please contact his foster carer Anita on 0424 176 260 or email anita.waters@me.com. Ronny is in foster care in Swansea, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Ronny's adoption fee is $500 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
