About Maisie ~ Mastiff x Whippet ~ On Trial 24/11/16
Meet Maisie - a beautiful and playful 12 month old girl who loves people. Maisie has a puppy joyfulness about her when meeting new people, her tail sweeps and wags and she loves to get a pat from everyone. Her breed mix is a big of a guess, she is a lot smaller than she looks in her photos – around 25kg. She has the long curved tail of a whippet and her body is quite lean, she has the gentle temperament and easy going nature of a mastiff. Whatever her breed mix she is undeniably gorgeous with a smile that beams from ear to ear!
Maisie is very affectionate, she loves kids and she has been socialised with other friendly non-dominant dogs. She has received some scares from dominant dogs so it has made her quite submissive when meeting some dogs. She will either shyly walk away from them, or try to gauge if they are going to be friendly with a submissive wag of her tail. She would enjoy being adopted into a forever home with a very friendly dog who has no dominant traits so that she can learn to be more confident. She would also be fine as an only dog as long as she receives a lot of affection from her family. She hasn’t spent any time with cats; however, she has shown no interest in them when going for walks.
Maisie is content to be outside during the day if she has a canine friend, she enjoys sun baking in the yard, she also likes to come in for some love when she can and whenever her family are home. Her previous foster carer’s kids loved having her inside and she has slept on the kids beds in the past. She is also happy to sleep in the lounge room on a warm cosy bed.
Maisie is a lovable girl and quite well-mannered - she will sit and come when asked. Maisie is very good at understanding “No” when she is doing something cheeky - she will stop and give you the most adoring puppy dog eyes you'll ever see.
We would love to see Maisie go to a home with another dog to be a role model/playmate for her, or alternatively someone who is around the home a fair bit and can give her attention, games to play and a daily walk. She would enjoy daily walks as she loves to have a good sniff and explore her surroundings. Her perfect family will be one who involve her in their daily activities.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
