About Bear *On Trial in His New Home*
*BEAR IS CURRENTLY TRIALING HIS NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* Meet Bear, he’s a gentle-natured dude who is looking for a home with another dog for company if you’ll be away at work for much of the day; will it be with you?
Adorable Bear has one of those cruisey, laidback natures you so often find in large breed pups. He is friendly and loving and adores pats and cuddles. He gets along well with other dogs of all shapes and sizes and he’s fine around dog friendly cats. Bear is also good around children especially as he rarely jumps up on you unless asked……..and he’s not at all licky or in your face. Our vets guesstimate Bear will be the size of a large Labrador once fully grown.
Being a mix of scent-hound and sight-hound Bear enjoys getting out and about on a lead, sniffing what the world has on offer. And although he has good recall in his own yard you’d need to be prepared to have him on-lead whenever he’s outside these boundaries as it’s hard to get even a Beagle cross’s attention once they’ve picked up a scent and they’re off and running. Clever Bear knows sit and goes “whacko over Schmackos” which will help with any further training you’d like to do though beware while both Beagles and Staghounds are alert, respond well to food-reward training and are eager to please, they can be diggers and/or chewers if bored or distracted hence the need for doggie company if you work long hours.

This gorgeous young boy loves his toys, especially the squeaky ones, and he enjoys a game of tug-o-war, either with his human or with another dog. Bear travels well in a car and thinks water is fun so a doggie pool in the summertime is a must. He’s not much of a watchdog given that he rarely barks (Bear’s a lover not a fighter!) in fact the only time he barks is when his doggie friend doesn’t want to play anymore, and really, who can blame him?
Bear is toilet-trained and well behaved inside - he is enjoying an indoor / outdoor lifestyle which we’d like to see continued in his forever home…….and if the offer to sleep inside was there Bear wouldn’t say no. His wirey-feeling coat doesn’t drop much hair and is fairly low-maintenance only needing the occasional bath to keep it in tip to condition. A secure, good-sized yard as the Beagle in him does like to explore his surrounds plus daily walks, toys to play with and bones to chew on will make Bear very happy indeed!

Adoption details
Please Note: SARG and our animals for adoption are located in Mildura in North-West Victoria.
Our adoption process commences with completing an Application form which you'll find at: www.sarg.net.au
The Application is then reviewed, references checked and a yard check done, then, if there are no issues, a meet and greet is organised. If all goes well the last stage is a 28 day home-trial to make sure that everyone is happy.
If the trial is successful our “stray” is then officially considered adopted and the microchip transferred into the new owners name.
If anything goes wrong SARG will always take back one of our animals :)
