Dave- cat, dog and people friendly

Beautiful, Happy, Energetic Dave is a young pup who's just so happy to be part of a family. He is loving cuddly and so eager to please.

Dave has been in foster care about 4 weeks and in that time has learnt to be independent during the day while his foster family are at work, he is quite content to play in the yard with his toys -the long rope toy is his favorite as he spends hours doing zoomies around the garden dragging it behind him. He has made himself an obstacle course through the trees jumping over logs and weaving in and out with his rope. Perhaps agility might be in his future......

At night he sleeps inside in a crate and doesn't make a sound, just curls up and dreams of tomorrows adventures and perhaps finding his forever people.

He currently shares his foster home with 3 other dogs and two cats but over the past two weeks has also shared it with an extra dog and cat as they are staying here while their owner is away. So its a bit crowded and even though there is lots of love to go around, he is eager for all the attention to be only his one day in a home he can call his own.

Dave would be perfect as an only dog in the house or if as a 2nd dog would be best suited with a young dog who can keep up with him, as he can be a little over the top with his older foster bothers and sisters who don't always tolerate his "I need to be in your face" over excited puppy type attitude.

He needs to be guided by humans as to whats appropriate canine play and whats just annoying when playing with others or one day he might just upset a grumpy older dog and end up in trouble.

Dave is on the go all the time in a typical puppy style manner and needs lots of toys and things to keep him busy during the day or he'll find his own entertainment and its not always things he should be doing or playing with. If left alone without toys he might just chew things he shouldn't, but he does like to bring all his treasures to the back door to show you at the end of the day - such as long sticks, chewed toys and anything else he finds "lost' in the garden.

Dave will hugely benefit from weekly obedience lessons to help establish a strong bond with his new family and guide him through some of his puppy like behaviors, helping him reach his full potential in life. If left untrained he will have trouble socializing with other dogs and become problematic/ destructive if left alone in house and garden.

He is too energetic and over the top for a house with small children and often can forget his size, he is sometimes mouthy when playing and this might scare and even hurt small children if allowed to happen. So for this reason he in not suited to a house with children under the age of 12.

Dave is cat friendly and loves to play with them so if you have a cat who is confident with dogs they will get on fine, but if your cat likes to run away Dave will see this as a fun game and therefore would not be suitable- as a zooming dog chasing the cat though the house can be hard work!

Overall he is a beautiful sweet young pup who will be a ripper dog if given the right leadership, guidance and love.
He has been allowed to grow up so far without the correct behavior modification, so still behaves like an immature pup which in a larger dog can be quite full on.
Its his time to shine and he's a blank canvas ready and eager to learn and fit in, given the right person/family ready to commit to him, he will become the greatest family companion.
