About Champ ~ Kelpie x Cattle Dog
Meet Champ - a handsome 2 year old male Kelpie x cattle dog who is just simply gorgeous!
He is happy to go for a walk each day and then lounge around the house with other canine friends or his human companions. He LOVES to be close to people and have them pat him. Champ is such a loving and loyal dog! Champ does love the company of people and/or other dogs. He hasn't been around other animals, but will happily play with his foster brother (boxer puppy) all day whilst his foster parents are at work.
His ideal yard would be one with grass and space so that he can run around, as well as an undercover area in case of bad weather. The fence should be at least 6 foot all the way around. Champ would also suit a family that would exercise him every day. Being a Kelpie x cattle dog means that he does have energy to burn but once that is spent he is quite happy to sleep it off to recharge and just keep an eye on things inside and outside the house.
Champ doesn't seem to have much experience with fetch or games, but with a bit of love and practice I'm sure he will pick it up in no time. He does however love his kong and other food games to keep his mind stimulated!
Champ can be timid when he first meets new people, but it doesn’t take long for him to warm up to them - all you need to do is give him a cuddle and you can win him over.
He has lived with young kids in the past and is great with them however he does jump and lick faces (which we are trying to train him not to do).
Champ is an outside dog with his foster brother and occasionally comes in for a snuggle if it's too cold or too hot, but he isn't really fussed with being inside.
As he thrives on companions as long as you spend some time morning and night with him, he is happy outside guarding the house.
Champ is a beautiful, kind and loving dog who is so very loyal and affectionate. He is happy, healthy and once you meet him you will fall in love (just like his foster parents have)! His name says it all, he is an absolute Champ!
To find out more about Champ, please contact Lydia at LydiaKing.home@gmail.com . Champ is in foster care at Mayfield east and is not available for adoption interstate.
Champ's adoption fee is just $450 and he is desexed, micro-chipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worm and has a life time registration.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
