About Dyson (adopted)
Dyson is a young Kelpie puppy who as you would expect from his breed is affectionate, trainable and extremely intelligent.
He was surrendered to rescue by his previous owners for being too energetic with their small children but in foster care, he has found his off-switch and has learned how to chill out inside the house and keep himself entertained playing with toys in his dog bed.
Dyson is fully house-trained and has taught himself how to use a dog door. He is crate-trained and sleeps through the night in a crate or in a dog bed and is happy to sleep-in if his lazy humans are sleeping in. Dyson is a perfect car traveller, whether in a crate or in a car harness.
He is learning basic obedience at home (sit/drop/stay/shake hands). And is also attending obedience classes on the weekend. He is doing really well in his training. You can read all about his foster journey on his blog here: http://koalathebear.dreamwidth.org/tag/dyson which has lots of photos, videos and details of his training.
Dyson loves other dogs and is living in a foster home with three other dogs. He loves people although he is still a puppy and can get excited and mouthy if people around him are not calm. For that reason, Dyson will not be suitable in a home with very young/small children as it can be difficult to ensure that very young children behave appropriately around lively puppies like Dyson.
Dyson is a typical Kelpie who needs intellectual as well as physical enrichment. As a young puppy he should not do a lot of physical exercise until he is at least 14 months but will need a home that can help exercise his brain and impose appropriate boundaries - bored working dogs make their own fun. For that reason, Dyson will only be rehomed to a family experienced with working dogs and he would do best in a performance home doing dog sports.
He loves cuddles and has been a joy to have in the house.
We are accepting expressions of interest for consideration. Please use the inquiry button (https://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/489016/enquire) as email inquiries are preferred (Dyson's foster carer works during the week).
Medical notes
Dyson is not yet desexed as he is too young, but will be desexed prior to rehoming.
