Eva ~ Shih Tzu x (On Trial 12/11/16)

Meet Eva… Eva is a beautiful 2 year old (nearly 3) Shih Tzu X. Eva is a tiny 4kg but is quite tall and has the most gorgeous long legs, affectionately earning her the nickname; Elegant Eva and Evie Long legs. Her long legs give her the hidden talent… She can use her back leg to scratch her upper body without even sitting down!

Eva is a special young lady who needs a family who will work with her to help her gain confidence and trust in herself and in her new family. She is quite the lovable and adoring girl however Eva needs to develop trust and confidence in her surroundings first before she will open up and come out of her shell.

Eva is very cuddling and adores a nice snuggle on your lap with you. She enjoys sitting next to you on the lounge and absolutely loves a tummy rub however still enjoys her independence. In the morning Eva loves to sit next to the window in the sun and watch all the happenings outside in her foster family’s neighbourhood. Eva also enjoys just sitting beside her foster family while they complete their own study and work commitments. Eva much prefers the company of her human family and her perfect home would have at least someone home with her most of the time. Eva does not like being left alone for long periods as she is very insecure and timid, she becomes worried where her human family are and when they will come home.

Eva is quite playful at times, she loves to create her own little game of her own when she is full of energy and is happy to bounce around with small toys. Eva needs to be an inside dog however requires access to secure, fenced yard for toileting. Eva is going well with toilet training but she still learning and does have the occasional accident inside, with continued time and patience this will improve. Alternatively Eva has shown her ability to use puppy toilet training mats inside, this could also be used if further training is given.

Eva has a lovely luscious coat which will need a regular brush and a trim/cut approx every 6- 8 weeks.

Eva enjoys (actually loves) being out in the fresh air and going on regular walks, she walks well on a lead and equally loves going in the car on a car ride. Eva enjoys going on doggy friendly day trips with her foster family, her desired forever home would also love to include Eva on some of their outings and maybe even a holiday. Positive reinforcement and encouragement through an excited verbal applause and food rewards has been wonderful in helping Eva develop her new skills and doggy tricks. Eva would love her new family to help continue on with this.

Eva currently lives with adults both young and old. She appears to be very comfortable with older teenagers and young adults. Eva does get along with older adults and retires equally well. Eva would be best suited to a family with teenagers/older adults or couple, either young or retired. Due to Eva needing to develop trust and confidence in herself and surroundings, young children may not be best as Eva would best develop and settle well to soft, calm and gentle environment. Eva currently lives with a small lorikeet in foster care and is not bothered by him, other pocket pets have not been tested.
