About Rosie (Child/Dog Friendly)
Meet Rosie a Wired Haired Jack Russell Mix female of 6 months of age. Rosie was a private surrender to Wally's Doggie Rescue and is on the look out for her furever home.
Rosie is a sweet young girl who has grown up around children and raised in a family environment. Rosie is social with other dogs, but beware! The trained Jack Russell that you see on TV or in movies doesn't come that way. Teaching a Jack Russell to become a civilised companion is no easy task. It requires lots of time and patience as well as a strong sense of humor. The JRT is highly trainable, but they do have a mind of there own and won't stand for boredom. If you don't keep them entertained, they will find ways to amusements, and you probably won't be happy with the results.
If you want a dog who can learn tricks, run an agility or flyball course in seconds flat, play fetch until you drop, and who will make a charming companion when she is not getting into mischief, then Rosie the Jack Russell may be the dog for you. If you can't deal with a dog who will chew, dig, and bark, rocket through the house multiple times daily, chase cats and other small animals with glee and murderous intent, and will always find the loophole in any command you give, she's definitely not the dog for you, no matter how cute and small she is.
If you have the time and patience to devote to her, the Jack Russell has many qualities that make them an ideal family dog. Rosie is devoted to her foster family and loves being with them. Her heritage as a hunting dog makes her an excellent jogging companion once she's full grown. Active older children will find her to be a happy and affectionate playmate, but her rambunctious nature can overwhelm younger kids.
On the downside, her fearless nature frequently puts her in harm's way. She has tons of energy and won't be satisfied by a sedate walk around the block. This is a dog who loves to run and jump and fetch. Plan on giving her 30 to 45 minutes daily of vigorous exercise.
They also escape artist who's best suited to a home with a yard and a secure fence that can't be climbed, dug under, or jumped over. The Jack's strong prey drive makes them entirely untrustworthy off leash, so you'll need to snap on the leash when you're outside of fenced areas, as there instinct to "go to ground" — to dig for prey — means your garden isn't safe from excavation.
A Jack Russell can fill your days with laughter and love, but only if you can provide them with the attention, training, supervision, and structure that they need. First-time or timid dog owners would do well to start with a less challenging pooch. Please consider carefully whether this is the right breed for you. If it is, you're in for a wild but wonderful ride.
Wyong Dog Training Club will provide 3 free dog training sessions http://wyongdogtrainingclub.org.au/ . So please be sure to utilise this awesome gift which will benefit both you and Rosie.

Adoption details
Wally's Doggie Rescue offers a 2 week trial period to ALL pups/dogs adopted by us. We give ongoing support to our adopters through a CLOSED FACEBOOK page where you can ask training questions, share your photos and chat to other people who have adopted a Wally's Doggie rescue animal. Wally's Dog Rescue put a lot of time and effort into ensuring our dogs/pups are sociable and made to feel part of the family, so in considering adoptions, these are the type of things we will be looking for in a new family and allow their dogs inside of the home on a regular basis to ensure that they are part of the family. This is particulary so if they are to be an only dog.
When enquiring about ROSIE, please give us some indication of the type of home that she would have with you. We are interested in things such as other animals (past and present), children who may have contact with the dog, whether you own or rent your home (rental agreement to be sited), what opportunities for socialisation outside the home your dog would have, how much you/someone is home and most importantly, why you feel this dog may be suitable for you. Wally's Doggie Rescue would also arrange a yard check of your property or have photos/videos sent of your yard, to ensure it is fully fenced and adequate shelter is provided.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
