Meet Mikey!

Mike is a quiet dog, happy to sleep comfortably for most of the day. He enjoys his daily walks and is always keen for a game of chase the ball. He is in a foster with three other dogs and loves to join in the play with them. He cuddles up to the other dogs at night and enjoys their company, but thankfully he is also a dog who would be happy enough as an only dog as long as his humans spent time with him.

Mike was surrendered to the pound as his owners thought he was addicted to cane toads on a rural farm. They hoped a new home could be found for him residentially. Mike was incredibly depressed at the pounds adoption centre and stole the hearts of staff and volunteers. After about three weeks the cleaner found him one morning lying in his pen semi-comatose. He was rushed to the vets and after full testing it was revealed he was an epileptic. Like humans, this ailment is totally treatable. The vets say that as long as he isn’t traumatised again, there is no reason he won’t live a full life, perhaps even not suffering another fit again. His anti-seizure medicine amounts to under $13.00 dollars per month, less than the cost of a dog wash.

He is remarkably settled for a dog just turned two, he loves meeting humans, and is just a great all-rounder, easy to care for and very undemanding.
