Beautiful tortie point Martha joined the BFF family from a high kill country pound. Along with being stunning, she is the most affectionate cat I have ever met. She loves nothing more than to be curled up near you, beside you or on you. Cuddling in bed is her absolute favourite, there have been several occasions that I've woken up to her curled up in my arms, keeping me nice and warm! Along with being ridiculously affectionate, Martha also has the playfulness of a young kitten. She loves playing with almost anything, and particularly likes used toilet rolls. This gorgeous little darling really is the best of both worlds. She is suited to any family, couple or individual and would make a gorgeous addition.
Martha has had all her premolar and molar teeth surgically removed because of this condition.
Her remaining teeth (canines and incisors) will require ongoing monitoring and cleaning to aim to keep them healthy to try and avoid future extractions.
There is a thought that plaque causes inflammation that makes particular cells in the mouth start to eat away at the enamel. Other theories include autoimmune disease, pH changes in the mouth or viral diseases. Martha has been tested negative to FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) and FeLV (Feline Leukaemia Virus), 2 common viral disease in cats that have been associated with this condition.
The 1st signs that the remaining teeth may be deteriorating include pain around the mouth, reluctance to eat or a change in food preference, increased salivation and red, inflamed gums surrounding the teeth.
It is recommended that cats with a history of tooth resorption have a professional prophylaxis clean every 6-12 months. If it were possible, Martha would particularly benefit from daily brushing of her remaining teeth.
Although her problematic teeth have been removed, her remaining teeth may deteriorate in the future and require treatment.

Medical notes - Martha has a condition called tooth resorption. The cause of the condition is not known.
This results in the loss of her tooth structure, generally the damage occurs to the enamel at or below the gum line. It can affect 1 or multiple teeth and there is no cure. The affected teeth are painful and need to be removed to provide relief.

All cats and kittens require a meet and greet in person and have their adoption application approved .
All cats and kittens will be desexed , mirco-chipped , vaccinated prior to leaving care plus treated for fleas and worms.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
