About Babs & Henry ~ Chihuahua X boys (on trial 11/2/17)
Meet Babs & Henry! – the Odd Couple who will steal your heart. Babs is a dark-coloured, 8 year old Chihuahua X boy and Henry is a white, 10 year old Chihuahua X boy. Whilst they must go together, I assure you that it would be impossible to choose between these two charming boys, each with their own unique and loving nature.
Babs & Henry are dogs of convenience - trained for inside, but happy spending time outside too. They are quick learners – they don’t know many commands, but are learning more. They are unassuming, quiet dogs that are never destructive and they are easy to walk on the lead. They play together and both love soft toys (especially playing fetch with them) and both love to snuggle up with you on the lounge. They are both a bit nervous of strangers when they are at the park.
Babs loves a cuddle and is a nudist, he quickly becomes your best friend. He loves to sleep with you, if you let him. Babs has a crazy giraffe tongue which is hilarious -he is a natural comedian. He craves attention, will give you endless amounts of love and kisses (which are hard to escape since his tongue is so long), loves sitting in your lap or at least touching your body – and will certainly let you know if you aren’t giving him enough attention by nudging you or putting his paws on you. He has an overwhelming loving nature and extreme loyalty to you. He shows some uncertainty towards strangers however with your reassurance he is fine.
Henry loves his teddy bear, loves to wear clothes and play dress up, and likes to wear his collar at all times. Henry will sleep with you or in his bed. He is very timid around strangers and becomes nervous of loud noises however this is when his trust in you becomes most evident. He can be a very independent dog, but will rely on you for comfort when stressed. He is very loyal and once he has bonded with you, he has extreme trust in you and his life will quickly revolve around yours. His new family must have patience with him, but I can promise that they will be rewarded with endless amounts of love.
I would recommend Babs & Henry for an elderly couple/person who are looking for loyal companions to share their time with or a family with older kids. They are inside dogs however are also perfectly okay to be outside and do not practice any sort of destruction behaviour if left alone during the day. Families must be willing to give these boys the attention they deserve as they will quickly make you the centre of their universe – both have so much love to give.
They do not need to be walked every day – just a few times a week. They enjoy fetching soft toys around the yard and often keep themselves entertained however this shouldn’t replace the human interaction which they are so fond of. They are easy to walk – except Henry’s nervousness around strangers can make him slightly skittish They are both young at heart and love to play – their age certainly does not hinder this.
Whilst they are Chihuahuas, they certainly do not follow the breed’s stereotype of being yappy and aggressive - they have never growled or bitten anyone and very rarely bark since being in my care. They are quiet dogs and will certainly not annoy the neighbours. They are friendly with cats (usually ignoring them). They get along okay with my resident dog (however they didn’t at first), but after time in their new home should get along well with any other pets.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
