Snow ~ Maltese (on trial 28/09/16)

Snow is a lovely 1 year old medium size Maltese He is very quiet and I’ve only heard him bark once. He gets on very well with other dogs but is not exceptionally playful considering his age. This is improving the longer he is interacting with our own dog and he now has more regular short bursts of play.

Snow likes to be inside during the day with access to outside. He spent most of his first year outside in a kennel and seems to cope much better at this stage outside of a night with a jacket on.

He is very placid and likes to meet new people and will shyly say hello by resting his paws on their leg. Although initially timid and shy he loves getting a pat and being reassured it is okay to move around inside the house. He tends to stick to his bed as his security blanket and if feeling threatened or insecure will race back to it. This will just take time and patience to overcome for the right person.

I have tried several times to take Snow for a walk but he is not a fan. This will take time to overcome but he doesn’t appear to be a very active dog anyway. Happier running around the yard or inside the house with our dog.

He is a bit hit and miss with house training although improving daily. He is fine during the day as long as you take him out regularly or he has easy access to the outside. He appears to know sit and down but doesn’t know any other commands yet. His future owner will need to be patient with him to teach him further commands.

Although he initially whimpers in the car he soon settles down for the trip. . He shows no sign of aggression when my dog snaps at him when she gets jealous.
