About Toby ~ Ridgeback X Husky (on trial 25/09/16)
Introducing Toby a gorgeous big lovable 18 month old Ridgeback x Husky. He has a very gentle temperament - he loves to be close to you and lean against you whenever possible. He also thinks he’s a bit of a lapdog – that's if your legs don't fall to sleep with him perched on your lap like a small fluffy dog ! Toby has a unique lightning bolt of blue in his eye (he wears it like Doggy "bling") and if you are a Ridgeback fan then you'll love this big boy.
Toby is a very affectionate boy and he shows his love with cuddles. He likes to know what you are up to and be involved in your daily life. This is one boy who absolutely loves his people which is quite typical of the Ridgeback breed so he thrives on family time and is not suited to being a yard only dog. He loves to have access to come inside when his family is home and be involved in your daily family activities. He sleeps inside at night and sleeps the whole night through – in winter he loves to lay in front of the heater and hog all the heat!
Toby can be a little hesitant meeting strangers at first and then he warms up to them once he’s been introduced. We believe he had little social contact before coming into foster care so he is still learning to be confident with others. He doesn't bark often , he'll usually give a deep woof to let you know someone is around.
Toby would love a daily walk or jog and being a big boy he is quite strong on lead. He is currently walked with a head halti which he responds well to. A front clipping easy-walk harness is also a good option for his potential family. Toby is good with children however due to his size and bouncy personality we'd suggest children older than 10 years or teenagers who are used to large dogs.
Toby would excel with further training and advanced training classes . Because he is very treat driven he responds well to treat based and positive training techniques. Toby's primary goal is to be with you and please you .
Toby is best suited to 6 foot colourbond fencing as his breed is known for it's climbing skills ! He is currently in foster care with 6 foot colourbond and he's happy as larry. With lower fencing he would climb out to say hi to the neighbours . Toby is in foster care with another male doggy friend , they do get on however we feel he would be better suited to a furever home with either a friendly female dog older than him (and out of puppy stage), or he would thrive as an only dog as he would love the extra human attention.
For more information or to meet stunning Toby, please contact his foster carer Alex on 0424 352 050 or email alexsefton@hotmail.com. Toby is in foster care in Wallsend, NSW 2287 (Newcastle area).
Toby's adoption fee is $350 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
