About Angel
Check out this gorgeous girl who's ready to find her forever and ever home! Angel has been in a foster home for a few months now and she has made herself at home in her foster home and neighbourhood.
When Angel first cam into care she was very timid, and although she was very sweet, her shyness made it difficult for her to meet new potential families. She's come a long way since her shelter days though and she is now able to meet new people slowly and gently. She still needs potential adopters to be patient with her and let her come to you until she is comfortable near you. But if you crouch down and feed her some yummy treats she will usually sidle up beside you and enjoy a pat.
She learns a lot from watching other dogs and is very dog friendly. She loves to play and plays fairly with others. She may benefit from a confident and gentle companion to help guide her, but a calm and gently human could do the same. :-)
Angel has been learning sit, sit for a greeting, wait and loose lead walking. She is also learning tricks like shake lay-down and how to play fetch. She loves enrichment, especially if it involves things she can tear into like a toilet roll, egg carton or coconut. She likes to play with milk and plastic bottles to get her food from.
Angel can become wary when startled and takes a little while to settle. If you crouch down she will back into you and will calm when you rub her chest. She needs to be given plenty of time to take things in but needs distance to feel comfortable and not become overwhelmed. So a supportive, gentle family is a must.
She has moments in the morning and at night where she likes to run around and do zoomies and is now playing with her foster carers and playing tug or a little bit of fetch.
Medical notes
When Angel was a puppy she broke her leg. Her previous owners couldn't afford the treatment required to fix her so she was surrendered to a shelter where surgery was performed to pin and stabilise the leg. The past several months have focused on strengthening the leg and reforming muscle and stability and while it is much better, and will likely continue to improve, it is likely she will develop arthritis as she ages.
