About Marlee ~ Border Collie (on trial 3/10/16)
Meet Marvellous Marlee, she is a stunning 1.5 year old Border Collie looking for a forever home that can give her the room and companionship she needs to be the best dog she can be.
Marlee loves people, kids and other dogs! Marlee is looking for a best mate that she can play and hang out with if you have go off to work.
Marlee would need to go for a walk/run at least once a day and have plenty of room to run around during the day. Border Collies are very smart dogs and love to work so Marlee needs constant stimulation to keep that mind of hers active.
Marlee is currently being fostered and living on a property where her foster mum is home all day, so she gets to run around and be with human company on lots of acres and has dog company all day so has constant stimulation, if her foster mum has to head out for a few hours Marlee is very happy to have some down time with the other dogs.
Marlee has had some training from her previous owner and knows basic commands like sit, come, stay, drop and even wees on command, now that's impressive! Marlee still needs lots more training and she is always willing to please.
Marlee is a delight to have around, unfortunately she would be no good around cats or free range chooks as she tends to want to chase them. There are 3 horses on the property Marlee is currently living at and she is ok with them while they are grazing but if the horses are running around the paddock then Marlee's natural herding instinct kicks in she will want to chase them, so would need a lot more training if you lived on a property and have suitable fencing so she can't get to them.
Marlee is a beautiful dog that you can instantly fall in love with, but she needs the right home. Border Collies are not suited to living in small back yards with little exercise and no other dogs to play and hang out with. So if you have a large back yard or even better some acres and another dog, who like Marlee loves to run around and play a lot, then come and meet Marlee she will not disappoint.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
