About Maggie Mastiff X German Shepherd (on trial 5/2/17
Maggie is a gorgeous female 1 year old Mastiff X German Shepherd.
She adores human contact and is always after a pat or a snuggle, or a wrestle if she thinks you can handle it. Despite her size she is a gentle natured dog and is wonderful around children, but as she is strong young children should still always be supervised. She currently keeps a toddler company in the yard, following her around and keeping her safe. Her brindle coat is soft like a teddy bear, unlike many brindle dogs.
Maggie knows basic commands like sit, down, no, and jumps into the back of a station wagon. She travels very well in the car. She enjoys most food but doesn't eat all her food at once. For a larger dog she doesn't eat as much as you'd think either. He favourite treat is a good bone but she may try to bury it, so to protect your garden always supervise her with bones, or have a designated sand pit or digging area and teach her to bury here – she’s an extremely clever girl and learns quickly.
Maggie loves every person she meets however she is choosy with other dogs, and would be best suited as an only dog. She is unknown around cats and pocket pets but has happily lived alongside a bird aviary with lorikeets.
Maggie spends time inside and outside during the day. She is currently sleeping outside and is fully house trained. Maggie’s ideal home is one where someone will be home most of the day to keep her company and where she can receive lots of family time.
Maggie only barks if she senses that something’s not quite right and has nothing but love to give her new family. If you’re after a gentle soul to cuddle and be your best friend, look no further – Maggie is the girl for you!

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
