Buster ~ On Trial 18/9/16

Introducing Buster – a lovely 9 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback boy. Buster is a senior fellow who loves to spend quiet time at home with his people. Buster is a great, low maintenance companion for anyone with a quiet home who will let him do what he does best – chill out and doze!

Buster is very friendly with meeting people and children – he’s certainly a people dog. He doesn’t jump up – he just happily receives pats. He has met a few of his carers friends dogs - he will bark at them, meet them and then walk away as he doesn’t have any real desire to be with them. He would prefer his forever home to have no other dogs as he’s just not that into them. This is one old boy who is very people focused. He is so chilled out that he is fine when you go out during the day, and will happily await your return.

Buster is trained and knows commands such as sit, come and shake. Buster prefers to sleep inside at night time as it’s warmer for his older body. He is pretty easy going and not needy or demanding, he just enjoys the creature comfits and the warmth of being inside with his family. He enjoys a healthy diet of fresh vegetables, mince and brown rice. Canned and processed foods can upset his stomach.

Buster is very loyal boy and likes to think of himself as a guard dog – he will tell you when visitors or strangers arrive with barking but then stops shortly after. As he’s older he is best suited to a quiet home where he will have a daily routine to make him feel comfortable and relaxed. He wouldn’t suit a family with lots of people coming and going all day, or with a family with an unpredictable routine as he thrives when he knows what is on the daily agenda. He enjoys a daily walk - he is good on the lead, he will walk beside you and rarely pulls, unless he smells something intense as he walks by. He doesn't need long walks, a good stroll around the block and enough time to get a good sniff is enough for him.

Buster also enjoys sitting by your side as you potter around the house doing your day to day chores. He will even sit on chairs like a person and watch what you are up to like a site foreman! If you want a foot warmer he will happily sit on your feet to keep them warm. Buster isn’t really into toys or playing games – he just likes to do what he does best – have a nap! Even during his photo shoot recently he preferred to doze once he’d introduced himself to the photographer. One of his favourite activities is sleeping! He isn’t a digger or jumper, he really is a just a low maintenance and easy going boy.
