About Bessie
** BESSIE **
In mid July, HNE was contacted by one of our vet teams in Townsville about a stray puppy who was dropped off at their practice. This puppy was around 8 - 10 weeks old, extremely malnourished, riddled with intestinal worms and also suffering from ringworm and a fungal infection. Of course, the reason we were alerted to her was because she was also deaf.
Local shelters were reluctant to take a pup with ringworm and this little girl was in desperate need of safety. Never ones to shy away from a challenge, we said we’d take this poor girl and we were lucky to quickly find her a wonderful local foster placement with one of our experienced carers.
This unwell and abandoned pup arrived in care a few days later and her foster mum named her Bessie.
Miss Bessie is a bull arab x and she’s now around 4 months old. During her time in care she’s received ongoing medical treatment and is now completely recovered from all the health issues she arrived with.
Bessie is a clever girl who is already making great progress with her basic training. She knows sit, stay, drop, wait, no, good girl and come. Bessie is also crate trained and will retire to her crate for her naps and happily sleeps throughout the night, waking her foster family if she needs to go out for a toilet break. She has also slept outside without her crate with no trouble.
Bessie is curious of children, but in a positive way. She learns quickly and only jumps up on a rare occasion. She takes food quietly from children and adults alike. Bessie is comfortable and non-responsive to cattle, peacocks, ducks, chickens and pheasants. She has seen a wild dog and also a feral pig and showed an alert but non responsive reaction.
Bessie is a total smooch. She loves people and we know she’s destined to become someone's "heart dog". To sum her up, she’s independent, chilled, generally quiet and totally beautiful.
Bessie is currently living with an adult boxer and she adores him! So, the ideal home for Miss Bessie would be one with a similar sized canine companion (although this isn’t essential) and with a family who is committed to her ongoing training.
Bessie is currently located in Townsville, QLD. Interstate adoption is available, with transport costs payable by the adopter.
Bessie’s adoption fee is $320 and covers microchipping, vaccination and desexing (when age appropriate). Bessie is up to date with her flea/tick and worm treatment.

Adoption details
Hear No Evil's Adoption process:
1st Step * You contact us to obtain an adoption application, and discuss the dog of interest.
Once the application is completed and returned it will be assessed for suitability.
2nd Step * A Meet and Greet with the dog and all members of the adopting family and and current dogs is arranged where possible.
This usually coincides with a Yard check to ensure the safety and security of the property on which the dog will be kept. - We understand that this is not always possible in interstate adoptions and this will be discussed on your initial contact.
3rd Step *Payment of the Adoption fee in full. The dog is then handed over with any belongings, and all relevant paperwork and records.
Transport arrangements are the financial responsibility of the Adopting party. Hear No Evil are happy to assist with departure preparations and ensuring the dog makes its transport connection.
Final step * Once the 14 day 'settling in' period has ended, the change of ownership microchip details are submitted, and the adoption is officially finalised.
