About Shadow - Great Dane X girl (On Trial 7/11/16)
Shadow is a 9 month old Great Dane X girl. Shadows favorite things are long walks on the beach, sunbaking, food and most of all cuddles. She isn’t fussy about who she gets to cuddle, adults, children and other dogs all do the trick and like most Great Danes she is utterly convinced that she makes the perfect lap dog.
Shadow is very motivated by food and so is easy to train, in the short time she has been in foster care she has already learnt to sit, drop, shake, rollover and stay.
She isn’t an overly energetic dog and would prefer to lie in the sun and have tummy rubs than run around like her crazy foster brother. She loves going for walks and is happy to walk alongside without pulling. She hasn’t shown any signs of wanting to escape and has good recall.
Shadow is a very calm girl and has been supervised around children as young as three with no problems, however she is still young and will be a large dog so would be better suited a home with older children.
Shadow loves to be the centre of attention and would be best suited to a home with another dog to keep her company. She has lived with both large and small dogs and has no problems with either, however as Shadow is young and spent several months in the pound where she had no contact with the outside world, it is very important that she continues to be socialized. She hasn’t been tested with cats or other small animals.
Shadow is currently sleeping outside but she loves her inside time and would be more than happy to sleep inside, she is working on her toilet training and will need to continue with this in her new home.

Shadow's adoption fee is $450 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
