About Rio
Rio is a little paralympian. She has had a rough time. She had one of her front legs amputated following a traffic accident. But she has stoically endured this dramatic change and gives every appearance of not batting an eyelid. Having three legs is little different to having four it would seem. Rio enthusiastically goes out walking every morning. She keeps up with her other dog companions and many a passer by doesn't notice that she is any different to the other dogs.
Rio is a gentle and quiet girl. She is very happy to have human company and will snuggle on a dog bed somewhere close by so that she can keep an eye on you. If she was permitted, she would love to cuddle up on the couch - anywhere comfy is her favourite spot.
She is an easy-going, low maintenance dog. She is mature enough now not to be too demanding. She sleeps outside at night in a kennel. She has only recently started being an inside dog too, during the day. She is on the way to being fully house-trained.
Rio is fostered with other dogs and a number of cats. She is happy and relaxed about all the other animals. She has never shown any sign of aggression to either cats or dogs and has no interest in chasing cats. She is currently living with late primary/early high school children. They love her and she loves them.
Medical notes
Rio had her front left leg amputated in August 2016. She is fully able and there should be no long term health impacts from this surgery.
