About Jimmy ~ Kelpie (On Trial 27/6/16)
Meet Chew, Jimmy Chew. As you can see, he's suave, handsome and he’s a real gentleman; but more than that, he’s also one of the good guys.... most of the time! This is Jimmy’s story.
Jimmy was born on a property where the well being of dogs was not important. In fact, when Jimmy first came to live with us, his collar was embedded into his neck because he had outgrown it. Jimmy was scared of humans and didn’t trust anyone. Sadly Jimmy spent the first three days hiding under our Christmas Tree out of fear.
Fast forward six months and Jimmy has become an absolute delight. Jimmy is keen to learn new things. He has had basic training, loves his food and is very smart, so further training will be easy. This will also help him with his confidence.
Jimmy is a very laid back 2 year old Kelpie. Some may even say lazy! He enjoys his walks but could probably do with a bit more exercise. Let’s just say Jimmy would rather watch another dog fetch a ball while watching from his lounge chair than actually joining in himself.
Jimmy Chew got his name because he used to have a shoe fetish, but has since learned that shoes are for human’s feet, not for chewing. Jimmy’s inner puppy sometimes surfaces, but he is very well behaved for a young dog.
Jimmy currently lives with 3 small dogs, another medium sized dog and a revolving door of foster dogs. He gets on with everyone and definitely enjoys the company of other dogs.
Jimmy sleeps inside at night, but enjoys basking in the sun during the day. He has never been without a doggy friend, so we are not sure how he would go if left alone during the day. As with all dogs, he is happiest with his humans. Jimmy loves cuddles and pats and is a little bit of a sook. But gee, he’s an awesome time waster and it’s hard to say no. He is great with kids of all ages and would really flourish with a family that someone is home often.
Jimmy is house-trained, although does have access to outside at night. While Jimmy is not a jumper, he will require adequate fencing to keep a smart kelpie secure. He has in the past opened unlocked doors to take himself for a walk.
Jimmy is a keeper and anyone who meets him will agree. He has a beautiful nature to go with his good looks.
Jimmy deserves the love of a good human and in return, you will get the love and loyalty of a gorgeous dog. If you feel you could provide Jimmy with a loving, permanent home, please contact Di on 0413 310 791 or via email at di_keenan@y7mail.com.
Jimmy is in foster care in the Port Stephens, NSW, area.
Jimmy’s adoption fee is $400. He is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
