About Charlie ~ On Trial 3/10/16
Hello there, my name is Charlie and I am a very handsome 2.5 year old Labrador x Cocker Spaniel (maybe with a bit of kelpie thrown into the mix). I have the sleek black coat of a spaniel, the height of a labrador retriever and the slight, athletic build of a kelpie. I’m not rotund at all like your typical lab! My coat is a glossy and fluffy black that is easy to groom.
I’m a tall, interactive boy who would love a forever home with a couple who loves and knows big dogs. I'm very affectionate with my adult humans and think I'm a lapdog. I am scared of children however, as I've been crowded by them before so I would really lthrive in a home with no children to startle or crowd me. I'm great with adults and I would be ok with older teenagers who understand dogs and can give me space and respect. I also enjoy a regular routine and boundaries and a home with a sunny backyard where I can romp around and lay in the sun . I'm not a fence jumper so I would also enjoy acreage or a hobby farm with rural height dog mesh fencing.
I’m currently in a kennel environment with lots of other dogs and I love to run around the large exercise yards with them. I would be good as either an only dog, or paired with another friendly dog. If you are after a dog to walk daily or take for a run, I’ll be happy to join you. I’m also content to laze around the yard or house and have a snooze for some downtime too – I’m a medium activity level so a good mix of energy and chilled out dude. I’m happy indoors as I have good house manners, I am toilet trained and will sleep inside all night which I enjoy. I’ll lay next to the couch with you whilst you watch TV at night so I would love a routine where we can enjoy a quiet night in.
I’m quiet yet friendly when meeting new people , even in crowded environments – I’ll happily ask them to join us on a walk if they wish. When at home, I have been startled before when a visitor came into the backyard through a rear gate so having visitors announce their arrival is best for me. I recently went go to the Peppertree Wines Pooch Picnic with hundreds of dogs and people and my carers said I was such a well mannered boy - I loved the pats and showing off my sitting and shaking to everyone.
If you can give me a loving forever home please contact Jo on jo.payne.aus@hotmail.com. I’m in care near Morisset on the NSW Central Coast and I am not available for adoption interstate.
My adoption fee is $350 and includes my desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
